Finally some pictures of the finished product

I have received so many questions about when I was going to post some pictures on here so I finally found a moment to do just that!
The outside of the house now has stucco on it.

The slider door (single-paned) was removed

The finished product...plus some new paint color on the walls

Joslyn in her new room that is no longer blue

All of the wood shutters in the house (on closets) were painted white.

Oh, and the wood floor was installed! I love it! Isn't it purdy?

I bought this hutch off craigslist and it has a glossy finish. I like flat so I repainted it.

The top

We changed out all of the door handles to our oil rubbed bronze handles from our last house.

Added the baseboard in this room and our chandelier

And then this beautiful, (Squishy as everyone calls it) carpet was installed. It really finished the house up very nicely! It's all done and we moved in over the weekend. I will post more pictures of how everything looks with furniture in it later.

Jake surprised me with flowers a few days before we moved in. He didn't have a vase so he got creative and made one out of a simply orange (orange juice) container. So sweet.

The kitchen for those of you who haven't seen it in person. That board that is up is now down but these were taken before that!

Tons of cupboard space, 2 fridges and a double oven!

More projects worked on this past week

Other items worked on:
1. Stair carpet was removed and the boards were replaced. The stairs squeaked badly. There was no way to walk quietly up or downstairs. Each board (step) was removed and replaced to eliminate squeak!
2.Carpet was removed from the hallway, Joslyn's room and Master bedroom

3. Jake prepared the outside of the house where the new window was going in for the stucco guy to come and repair.
Those are doors that were standing against the framing to cover the hole.
4. The window was finally put in....the hole is gone!

The inside view of the new window.
5. The window was trimmed out and a window sill was added.

6. New 4-1/4 in. baseboard was added throughout the house (We got it for $0.50 a square foot! Awesome deal!
7. The doors were all replaced and new trim was added to frame them in. I love paneled doors.
8. The kitchen didn't need remodeling thank goodness. It's gorgeous! But, one part of the countertop was coming up so liquid nail was used with this board method to keep it tight for a few days. Hopefully it will stay!

A very busy week!

Jake did a TON of work on the house this week....I helped out when I could. Here's what we did...
Removed the sliding glass door....framed it for a window

Jake & his brother framing the window

Drywall was put up over the framing.

This is Cash's room. As it stands in this picture, there were these built in shelves on every wall in the room except for one. It didn't leave many options for furniture placement. It also felt like an office more than a bedroom so these shelves had to go. Jake demo-ed the shelves and I (by myself) carried every piece of wood out of the house and to the trash. It was hard work!

The wall is purple...that too must go! Pulling out the shelves created some drywall and texturing damage. That's something that was hired out to get fixed.

This is the wood pile that I hauled.

Now that the drywall is fixed, we can paint Cash's purple room.

Before Pictures of Dinning Room & Living Room

What we did...
1. We ripped out the carpet (The pictures are HORRIBLE cell phone quality) We forgot to bring our camera that night. The color of the carpet is not the grey color that is shown, it's actually a dark brown. It's at least 20 years old and very stained! It HAD to go~
2. Broke the frame around the already broken shutters and took them out completely.
3. I scraped the glue off of the concrete (below where the carpet had been) while the Hubby ripped out a sliding glass door. Seriously, who puts two sliding glass doors in a room?
4. To protect the house overnight, he screwed the taken down shutters to the wall over the opening.

A place to archive

Finally a place to archive all of the ideas swimming around in my head for decorating, crafting, building, refinishing, sewing etc!
